Willie Ross' collection of five books is the playlist for every major solo competitor and pipe band in term,s of his great settings for march, strathspey and reel tunes, and also some of the classic jigs and Gaelic airs.

Pipe-Major Ross was extremely important in the development of piping in terms of his classic settings of pipe tunes, and also his work teaching pipers at the Army School of Piping, and many of his early recordings display his amazing technique on the pipes.
